The main airport is a 45 minute drive from the property. A small airport is just 5 minutes away. Governors Harbour has restaurants, grocery stores, several gift shops, and a lovely collection of historic homes overlooking the harbor. Live music is available most evenings at one of the restaurants or little resorts.

We had such a lovely stay at Buttonwood last week. The property was absolutely gorgeous and the amenities are top notch. Brett, the property manager, was awesome and was on hand to help with anything that we needed. We would definitely go back!

During the day, mosquitoes and noseeums are typically not a problem. If they are present at all, they will come out at dusk and in the evening. Noseeums are a more frequent complaint on the island than mosquitoes. The best preventative is a pair of long pants and socks, because they go after legs and ankles. The evenings are usually comfortable, so you can wear long pants outside if necessary. The bite of a noseeum is not very bothersome, but don't make the mistake of ignoring them. If they are out, as soon as you feel the first little bite, put on your long pants and socks. Otherwise, if you are allergic to their bites, you will wake up the next day with many itchy bumps on your legs. Another popular preventative is generous application of baby oil, through which the little bugs cannot bite.

Restrictions

  • Bath towels are not to be taken to the beach or pool.
  • Minimum night stay requirements vary by home and time of year.
  • Patio furniture is not to be taken to the beach.
  • The Renter has access to all the rooms in the house with the exception of the locked closets and pantries.
  • The total number of persons allowed in the houses at any one time is restricted to the number of persons scheduled and paid for in the reservation. The presence of additional guests will subject the Renter to immediate eviction and forfeiture of rent.
  • Parties and events are not permitted without the written permission of the Homeowner.
  • It is the Renter’s responsibility to report any problems or damage immediately to the local property manager.
  • The renter and members of his/her group are prohibited to use or bringing onto the property any illegal substances, flammable fluids, explosives, or items deemed hazardous to life, limb, or property.
  • The homeowner is in no way responsible for any personal injury or bodily harm that may occur on the property to any Renter or their guests, nor for any damage or loss of Renter’s personal belongings.
  • U.S. and Canadian cell phones work on the island. The reception is quite good. Your cell phone carrier will probably charge you expensive international roaming charges, so check with your carrier.
