Neighborhood: Hapuna Estates - Mauna Kea Beach Escape is in Hapuna Estates in the Mauna Kea Resort, which is adjacent to two of the best beaches in all of Hawaii. Soft white sand and warm turquoise waters greet you at both Mauna Kea Beach and Hapuna Beach. - A short drive away are six of the most spectacular beaches in Hawaii, including Black Sand Beach, Private Beach 69, and of course, two of the best beaches in Hawaii right on the resort; Hapuna Beach and the breathtaking Mauna Kea Beach. - The Kohala coast is a golfer's paradise with seven challenging courses all within seven miles of our villa. - Within 10 minutes drive are three high end shopping complexes, Queens Shops at Waikoloa, Kings Shops and the Shops at Mauna Lani where you can find supermarket, coffee shops, restaurants, clothing and accessory stores, art, and free weekly entertainment in the evenings. They are within walking or biking distance from most of our vacation homes. - The resorts were designed to avoid overcrowding the beaches with condo towers and other developments. The gated communities are all set back from the beaches a bit to make sure the beach experience is amazing. From many of the homes, you can walk to a beach in 15 minutes or bike ride. - The Kilauea volcano is 90 miles away behind two 13,000-foot mountains and has been very quiet for the last year. Even during the eruption event in 2018 it did not affect our side of the Island. The National Park is open, and it is fascinating to explore, go for a hike, or take an aerial tour. It is part of what makes the Big Island unique and should not be missed. - The Kona (KOA) airport is the closest to the resorts. It is a 25-35 min drive to the vacation rentals. It is an international airport with direct flights from LA, SF, San Diego, Sacramento, Portland, Seattle, Denver, Dallas, Phoenix, San Jose, Oakland, Anchorage, Vancouver and Tokyo. There are also direct flights to Oahu, Kauai, and Maui.

- Parking available. - All beaches in Hawaii are public with some parking options nearby. - Abundant parking is available at Hapuna Beach State Park on the south end. There is limited free public parking at Mauna Kea Beach, so it’s good to plan to arrive early for a fun day.

Fantastic ocean VIEW! Just so beautiful! We even enjoyed a fireworks show on the lanai from the luau show at the Mauna Lani Resort Hotel down the hill. The community was VERY quiet the week we stayed. I don't know if that is normal or because the resort is under construction? We had the community pool & slide all to ourselves and never heard a peep from our neighbors. It felt very private. It is a gated community and resort, so we felt very safe. Definitely recommend adding the Resort Pass to Mauna Lani. It was very easy to drive down, pull up to valet, walk down to the private beach, order lunch & drinks. Chairs & towels provided. Never crowded. It was perfect! Location is 35 - 45 min from the KOA airport. 10-15 min drive to Waikoloa shopping and dining. Perfect amount of space for our two families of five to stay. Owners had excellent communication before, during, after. Clean, well stocked bathroom & kitchen. Very comfy beds. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Mahalo!

Unique feature: Mauna Kea Beach Escape features safety glass railings that do not block the views between the expansive lanai and the private pool to help keep little kids safe. Hawaii Code requires either safety railings or pool alarms. Since there are glass railings by the pool, there is no need for pool alarms and lanai doors can be open. This is a really nice feature of this brand-new home.
Enjoy complimentary use of two sets of Calloway golf clubs (men's and women's right) to save money on renting clubs during your stay.
An optional Rollaway Cot can be provided for an 11th guest; these are best suited for a child.
Ohana Studio Suite: King-size bed, kitchenette, and queen-size sleeper sofa create a private retreat steps away from the main house.
The two twins in bedroom # 2 can be combined as a king.
Laundry detergent, oxyclean, dryer sheets, dishwasher detergent, jet dry, cling wrap, foil, zip lock bags, assortment of spices, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, popcorn, starter bag of pure Kona Mountain coffee (the good stuff), hand soap, Dove soap bar, high end Float shampoo, shower gel and conditioner, two extra rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, and two paper towel rolls are provided. We have a clean fridge policy, so upon check-in, the fridge does not have any condiments.
Pack and play, high chair, bedrails, toilet training seat, step stool for little kids, baby monitors, swim belt/vest, kids' kitchen items, full cribs, bike trailers, jogging strollers and other items are subject to availability.
For larger families, the 4BR home next door, called "Blue Tranquility," is also available, allowing for 8 bedrooms and for really big groups, we also have "Blue Serenity" on the same private courtyard for up to 12 bedrooms
For even more recreational opportunities, the Amaui Club, a fabulous community recreation complex, awaits. Gracefully glide into the refreshing pool or take a thrilling ride down the large water slide, offering endless fun for guests of all ages.

At most times of the year, guests can make reservations for golf, activities, and restaurants. For those guests staying at Mauna Kea Beach Escape who want the benefits of staying in a luxury private home but also to enjoy an experience as if they were a hotel guest there is an ability to opt into the Mauna Kea Club program. Only guests staying in Mauna Kea resort homes where the owners are members of the Mauna Kea Club have the option of enjoying this option. The program includes charging privileges at two hotels (Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Hapuna Westin), use of each hotel’s pools, beach chairs, and hotel parking. The hotel requires guests who opt in to pay a daily fee per home, not per guest, to the hotel directly. Guests who opt in must sign up for all nights of their stay. For those guests choosing the Club option, our guest ambassador team will facilitate your registration. Inquire with our team for more details and for pricing. Rates are set by the hotel and are subject to change each year and during certain peak weeks. For guests who want to participate, advance registration is required with the hotel.
“The Park at Hapuna Estates” is an exclusive 3-acre recreation facility available only to those individuals staying in homes at Hapuna Estates with no additional cost or resort fee. Mauna Kea Beach Escape in Amaui Villas, as part of Hapuna Estates are welcome to enjoy the beautiful Hapuna Park and enjoy all it has to offer. Currently, only about two dozen homes and their guests have use of this facility, meaning it's almost never busy.
