KEY Curation Notes

Different Drum Lake is steps from the front door. Views of the private Little Bavaria lake from the covered wrap-around deck and most living areas — and all guests staying in the development have access to fish the catch-and-release lake. Reviewers consistently mention the kids catching fish right across the road as a trip highlight.
Three fully distinct living spaces across four levels. Main level great room with a 65" TV, wood-burning fireplace, and L-shaped sectional; upper level queen suite with a full bath and open loft with bunk bed; lower level family room with a pool table, gas stove, and three additional queen bedrooms. The layout works well for multigenerational groups.
King master suite is main-level accessible. Soaking tub, separate shower, and private bath — no stairs required, making it practical for anyone who can't manage steps comfortably.
Hot tub and fire pit are the outdoor anchors. The hot tub sits on the lower deck; the fire pit area with Adirondack chairs is below, with weather-sealed Bluetooth speakers for both. Covered deck and porch on the main level seat the full group for meals and morning coffee with lake views.
Location threads the needle between Boone and Banner Elk. The Original Mast General Store and Valle Crucis Park are nearby; downtown Boone is 10–15 minutes and Banner Elk roughly 30. One of the better-positioned properties in the High Country for guests who want to range widely without committing to one town.
AWD or 4WD recommended November through April. Roads in the Little Bavaria development are mountain-grade in winter.
Starter supplies are minimal. Stock up in Boone or Banner Elk before arriving. KEY.co can arrange grocery delivery to the property ahead of your stay.

Reviews

Brenda

A beautiful cabin with a great view. Lakeview is easy to get to, beautiful and very clean. The check in process was easy and communication with the host was as well. Any question I had was addressed quickly and accurately. The interior is a beautiful cabin motif with plenty of room for our family. The outside porches have plenty of seating and the outdoor fire pit is beautiful. The property is well Maintained and we had no issues with the driveway as there was snow on the ground. The cabin is conveniently located near Boone, Banner Elk and the surrounding area. Definitely would book again if we are in The area.

Things you need to know

Firewood may be purchased at the time of booking or with a week's notice. You receive two wrapped, kiln-dried bundles and a fire starter for $25 plus tax per night.

Towels and linens will be provided.

ALL of the guests staying in homes that are in Little Bavaria are allowed to fish on the lake in the development. Because that lake is in a private community, they do NOT need fishing licenses to fish in it; however, it is catch and release ONLY.

The property is set up for light housekeeping, including linens and towels. We provide a STARTER SET of toilet tissue, paper towels, bath toiletries, dish soap, and trash bags. This is enough for one or two nights, but if you are staying for an extended length of time, you should plan to bring some supplies from home or plan to purchase these items at a grocery store when you arrive.

We provide one towel and washcloth per person that each respective house accommodates, plus a few extra towels if there is a hot tub. The beds are made up with clean linens (except bunks, sleepers, and futons, but linens are provided on site). If you routinely use two towels after bathing, you may need to bring some of your own.

This home comes equipped with a basic set of cookware, sufficient plates & silverware for the occupancy of the home, and basic serving and baking dishes. Most homes do not have unusual items such as crockpots or blenders, so if you’re planning a dish that requires an unusual item, it is best to bring that from your home.

This home is not stocked with cooking oils or spices, hairdryers, condiments, coffee, coffee filters, or food storage items, including plastic wrap or foil.
