KEY Curation Notes

Solid log construction overlooking Great Camp — one of the closest rentals to the amenity hub. The ropes course, mini-golf, 24/7 general store, Epic Chophouse, and amphitheater are a short walk from the front door. No driving back up the mountain after an evening at camp.
Three private suites, each with its own bath. King on the main level with deck access and a tiled walk-in shower; two suites upstairs — one with a queen and twin combo, one with a queen, twin-over-twin bunks, and an additional single twin. A genuinely flexible configuration for mixed groups with kids.
Main level reads like a proper lodge. Stacked stone gas log fireplace with leather seating, shuffleboard table with mountain views, a custom poker table, chef's kitchen with granite counters and prep sink, and a dining table that seats eight with bar seating for four more.
No hot tub. Worth knowing given how common they are in the Eagles Nest inventory. The outdoor fire pit off the deck is the primary outdoor gathering spot.
Pet-friendly for dogs 50 lbs and under. Maximum two dogs, mature and well-trained.
Construction noise is active. Monday through Saturday, 7am–7pm. Worth noting for early-morning arrivals or light sleepers.
Starter supplies are minimal. Stock up in Banner Elk before heading up. KEY.co can arrange grocery delivery to the property ahead of your arrival.

Our stay was awesome! The accommodations were top-notch and comfortable for the six of us. The black bear and deer sightings were an unexpected highlight. We highly recommend this to anyone desiring to relax in the mountains with entertainment and spectacular lookouts at every turn.

Things you need to know

Guests at Big Elk Lodge will soon be able to enjoy an enhanced experience that will include a brand new gazebo with hot tub, an enhanced firepit area, refreshed paint & stain and decor of the main house, and a brand new carriage house apartment with additional sleeping space! Photos will be posted mid-summer 2026 once the work is complete.

Firewood may be purchased at the time of booking or with a week's notice. You receive two wrapped, kiln-dried bundles and a fire starter for $25 plus tax per night.

Eagles Nest is an up-and-coming community, with construction currently going on in several of its neighborhoods. Construction noises may be heard Monday-Saturday 7am-7pm.

All stays at Eagles Nest homes have an additional amenity fee in order to maintain the luxurious facilities and features in the development.

Guests are responsible for supplying their own recreational equipment (basketballs, soccer balls, tennis equipment, etc.).

The summer concerts are open to all guests; however, there may be an admission fee for each person and a cash bar for food and drinks.

All linens and towels are provided for your stay.

Please note that all Eagles Nest homes have internet, but some areas of travel may not have cell reception.

The property is set up for light housekeeping, including linens and towels. We provide a STARTER SET of toilet tissue, paper towels, bath toiletries, dish soap, and trash bags. This is enough for one or two nights, but if you are staying for an extended length of time, you should plan to bring some supplies from home or plan to purchase these items at a grocery store when you arrive.

We provide one towel and washcloth per person that each respective house accommodates, plus a few extra towels if there is a hot tub. The beds are made up with clean linens (except bunks, sleepers, and futons, but linens are provided on site). If you routinely use two towels after bathing, you may need to bring some of your own.

This home comes equipped with a basic set of cookware, sufficient plates & silverware for the occupancy of the home, and basic serving and baking dishes. Most homes do not have unusual items such as crockpots or blenders, so if you’re planning a dish that requires an unusual item, it is best to bring that from your home.

This home is not stocked with cooking oils or spices, hairdryers, condiments, coffee, coffee filters, or food storage items, including plastic wrap or foil.
