An extraordinary mountaintop estate unfolds across five private acres at 5,000 feet, offering sweeping, unobstructed views that stretch endlessly across the surrounding peaks. This unique retreat combines two distinct homes connected by a charming sky bridge, creating a one-of-a-kind setting for both gathering and privacy. The main residence showcases a dramatic wall of windows that fills the great room with natural light and frames the breathtaking scenery, complemented by warm wood-burning fireplaces and inviting living spaces designed for comfort and connection. A thoughtfully designed kitchen, expansive gathering areas, and a lower-level recreation space provide everything needed for both relaxed mornings and lively evenings. The secondary residence offers a cozy and private escape, ideal for quiet moments while still being just steps away from the main home. Outdoor living is equally captivating, with lounge areas perfectly positioned to take in the panoramic views and a hot tub that invites peaceful evenings under the mountain sky. With its elevated setting, seamless blend of rustic charm and refined comfort, and close proximity to year-round recreation, this remarkable property delivers a truly unforgettable mountain experience defined by space, scenery, and versatility.

Our promise

Satisfaction Guarantee

We've reviewed thousands of homes and approve only the best. Each one is professionally managed and vetted for comfort and style, raising the bar for every stay.

KEY Curation Notes

Two separate homes connected by a rustic sky bridge — genuinely unique in the market. Skytop Chateau is the main house: four bedrooms, 3.5 baths, a wall-of-windows great room with a wood-burning fireplace, and 50-mile views including a direct sightline to the ski slopes. The Chalet is a one-bedroom, one-bath retreat with its own gas fireplace, perched above a two-car garage. Groups can gather or separate with complete independence.
The views from the Chateau are the standout feature. Reviewers consistently flag them as the best they've seen at Beech Mountain — long-range and unobstructed, visible from nearly every room including the kitchen window which faces the slopes.
Hot tub, bar, and game room on the lower level of the Chateau. Ping pong table, board games, a second wood-burning fireplace, and a bonus room with two doubles and a pull-out sofa. Two fully separate living zones within the main house alone.
The Chalet has no air conditioning. Worth knowing for summer stays — the Chateau is fully air-conditioned, but the Chalet relies on mountain elevation for cooling. At 5,000 feet, nights are cool even in summer, but plan accordingly.
Beech Mountain Club access is available for purchase. Championship golf, professional tennis, a heated pool, and private dining — guests can add a temporary membership for their stay. Worth inquiring at booking if these amenities are part of your plan.
The driveway is 0.2 miles of single-lane gravel shared between both structures. 4WD or AWD required in winter; chains may also be necessary. The approach adds to the seclusion but is worth knowing before arrival.
Starter supplies are minimal. Stock up before heading up the mountain. KEY.co can arrange grocery delivery to the property ahead of your arrival.

If you want to stay and play on the slopes, during winter (November-April) you'll need to come prepared to handle heavy snow. Reviews

Nora

We loved our stay here. We traveled to Banner Elk for a wedding with a group of friends. There was plenty of space, comfortable beds, enough and enough dishes for a big crowd. There were lots of games to keep every one entertained, and a lovely porch with plenty of seating. The house itself was clean when we arrived and looked just like the photos. The natural light is incredible! It was also great to be at the top of the hill away from other houses. It felt very private. The organization in the kitchen wasn't the best, and there weren't clear linens to use on the pull out sofas. Other than that, our stay was lovely, the rental company accommodated our needs and was responsive! We'd definitely stay here again.

Things you need to know

You and your loved ones will enjoy everything about Skytop Chateau and Chalet, two mountain homes that together make up The Summit of Beech. Both properties are connected by a rustic sky bridge that adds to the mountain lifestyle, unmistakable in this property.

Please note that there is no air conditioning in the Chalet.

Guests of the home have the option to purchase a temporary membership to Beech Mountain Club during their stay. Please inquire for details.

Towels and linens will be provided for you.

Firewood for the outdoor fire pit may be purchased in advance from our office with a week's (7 days) notice. Firewood is $25/day for 2 bundles of wood.

The property is set up for light housekeeping, including linens and towels. We provide a STARTER SET of toilet tissue, paper towels, bath toiletries, dish soap, and trash bags. This is enough for one or two nights, but if you are staying for an extended length of time, you should plan to bring some supplies from home or plan to purchase these items at a grocery store when you arrive.

We provide one towel and washcloth per person that each respective house accommodates, plus a few extra towels if there is a hot tub. The beds are made up with clean linens (except bunks, sleepers, and futons, but linens are provided on site). If you routinely use two towels after bathing, you may need to bring some of your own.

This home comes equipped with a basic set of cookware, sufficient plates & silverware for the occupancy of the home, and basic serving and baking dishes. Most homes do not have unusual items such as crockpots or blenders, so if you’re planning a dish that requires an unusual item, it is best to bring that from your home.

This home is not stocked with cooking oils or spices, hairdryers, condiments, coffee, coffee filters, or food storage items, including plastic wrap or foil.
