Location
Inside the destination
Neighborhood: Kohala Ranch - Located at 560' elevation on Kohala Mountain overlooking undeveloped state land with wide expansive views of the ocean. Four other volcanos can also be seen from this location: Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, Hualalai and Haleakala (on Maui). When the horizon is extremely clear, you can also see the island of Lana'i. We invite you to experience astronomy heaven between the observatories of Mauna Kea to the southeast and Haleakala to the northwest. - There are three wonderful shopping areas in the resorts: Shops at Mauna Lani, King Shops and Queens Shops. They include groceries, restaurants and retail stores. They are within walking or biking distance from most of our vacation homes. - The resorts were designed to avoid overcrowding the beaches with condo towers and other developments. The gated communities are all set back from the beaches a bit to make sure the beach experience is amazing. From many of the homes you can walk to a beach in 15 minutes or bike ride. - The Kilauea volcano is 90 miles away behind two 13,000 foot mountains and has been very quiet for the last year. Even during the eruption event in 2018 it did not affect our side of the Island. The National Park is open and it is fascinating to explore, go for a hike or take an aerial tour. It is part of what makes the Big Island unique and should not be missed. - The Kona (KOA) airport is the closest to the resorts. It is a 25-35 min drive to the vacation rentals. It is an international airport with direct flights from LA, SF, San Diego, Sacramento, Portland, Seattle, Denver, Dallas, Phoenix, San Jose, Oakland, Anchorage, Vancouver and Tokyo. There are also direct flights to Oahu, Kauai, and Maui.
Parking information
- Parking available. - All beaches in Hawaii are public with some parking options nearby.

The natural beauty of the location of the property, the incredible views from any window that you looked out, the beautifulness of the home, the tasteful décor, the exceptionally well stocked home, and spa like amenities blew us away. The night sky was awe inspiring. I can't say enough good things about the place. Paradise indeed.
