Two connected historic cottages on the Seapuit River in Oyster Harbors — once part of Bunny Mellon's Cape Cod estate, still surrounded by her legendary gardens — among the most historically significant rental properties on the Cape. Mellon, the celebrated American horticulturist and confidante of the Kennedys, personally designed and maintained the gardens here; Jacqueline Kennedy was a regular visitor. The property remains intact and the gardens are still tended.
Private heated saltwater pool, a dock on the Seapuit River, and stunning water views of Sampson's Island — the outdoor sequence is exceptional: formal gardens surrounding the pool, a working dock for access to Nantucket Sound, and sweeping river views from the grounds. Dock use before July should be confirmed at booking.
Two private cottages rented as a single estate, sleeping ten across six bedrooms and five baths — the smaller cottage has two bedrooms and two baths with its own full kitchen and outdoor space; the larger has four bedrooms and three baths with its own kitchen and outdoor areas. The layout gives the full party privacy within the property while remaining connected — ideal for two families or a multi-generational group.
Each cottage is fully self-contained — two gourmet kitchens, two sets of outdoor dining and lounging areas, two gas grills, and full linens and towels throughout. The espresso machine, lobster pot, and Keurig are among the kitchen inclusions that signal the level of attention to provisioning here.
Deep within the gated enclave of Oyster Harbors on Grand Island — one of Cape Cod's most private and prestigious addresses, minutes from Osterville Village shops and waterfront dining. No beach on the property; Dowses Beach and community beaches are nearby. The Donald Ross golf course at the Oyster Harbors Club is within the community (membership required).

  • Fire hazards: No campfires, fireworks, or open flames unless explicitly allowed
  • Illegal/unauthorized use: Subletting and unapproved use are prohibited
  • Unapproved modifications: Installing equipment (e.g., window A/C) or altering the space is not allowed; damage/repair costs apply

Equipment & Amenities

  • HVAC & utilities: Doors/windows must remain closed when A/C is in use to prevent damage; misuse may result in repair charges
  • Appliances & systems: Operation is not guaranteed; no refunds for malfunctions (includes A/C, internet, appliances, power outages, etc.)
  • Internet/phone/TV _(if equipped)_: Long-distance calls and paid media are charged to Guest
  • Provided items: Guests may need to bring linens, towels, and supplies unless otherwise stated; rentals may be available for a fee
  • Equipment reporting: Damage must be reported within 24 hours; unreported or excess damage beyond coverage (up to $1,000 or $300 for shorter stays) is chargeable
  • Locked areas: Restricted areas are off-limits; unauthorized access may result in charges
  • Maintenance access: Authorized personnel may enter for inspection, repairs, or showings with notice where required

  • Cleaning expectations: Must leave in clean, habitable condition; excess cleaning fees apply
  • Damage reporting: Report cleanliness or maintenance issues within 24 hours of check-in
  • Furniture & care: Return furniture to original placement; moving damage or misplacement may incur fees
  • Trash: Must be properly disposed of per instructions; excess trash removal may incur charges
